Dirt Dog does it all. Garage, kitchen, hallway, living room with short plush carpet. I am impressed.

I've used it about a month - off and on.

I got it to clean the dog hair from the wood floors in the kitchen/dining room/hall/bathroom.

It seems to do a remarkably good job picking up stuff. My only complaint is that there are so many things on the floor (kitchen table and chairs, dining room table and chairs) that it spends a lot of time working around the edges there - and as such the battery doesn't last as long as I'd like it to.

You know how you have to bend over to pick up everything from the floor before you sweep? Well, with the Dirt Dog, you still have to. But that's it, push the button and walk out of the room. When you return, you do have to go look for it. Especially if you intend to open the garage door and drive the car out. The Dirt Dog just lays down and goes to sleep, wherever he is when he gets tired. He may be sleeping beneath the car tire. Full of dirt. Empty him out, plug him in and he's ready to go whenever you feel like picking up the shop before you leave again.

I was so overwhelmed by all the glowing reviews that I purchased the Dirt Dog post haste. When Dirt Dog #1 arrived I charged it up according to directions, pushed the big button on top and stared in amazement as it gave a slight shutter, emitted an electronic death rale, and succumbed before my very eyes. I tried to revive the mutt but no amount of tinkering would raise this puppy from the dead. I called HSN and they were more than willing for me to return it for a full refund. Rationalizing that I must have received that one in a million dud, I requested a replacement. I was overjoyed to get the brand new replacement as I still had faith in all those sunshine pumpers in Amazonland. I charged up DD#2 and set it to work in my large tiled sunroom but it refused to pick up birdseed that had fallen from my birdcage. It did however manage to immobilize itself when a couple of stray dog hairs clogged its front wheel. I removed the dog hair and started it going again. I left the room and returned 15 minutes later to discover to my horror that the beast had attacked a table leg, got hung up and bashed its front sweeper brush to smithereens. I called iRobot and they promply shipped out another brush. I installed the new brush but alas it still wouldn't pick up squat. I finally gave up and shipped it back to HSN for a refund. I am now happy to report that I no longer have a dog in this fight.

This is an Excellent item for a Bachelor Pad. I turn the robot on before I go to work (making sure any obstacles, rugs, cords are off the floor) and when I get home the hardwood floors and tiles are fully swept! (I dont have any carpet) It's amazing how much dirt this thing collects because the floors never look that dirty but when you empty the bin where it collects the dirt you will be shocked at how much stuff this thing will find. Once in a great while it will get fully caught on something so I would recommend that you supervise it the first day you turn it on to learn what to move out of its way before leaving it alone to do the work.

The one downfall is that it's kind of loud but thats not an issue if you turn it on before you leave the house =)
