KitchenAid's Artisan stand mixer is a substantial piece of equipment: 325 watts of mixing power make child's play of creaming butter, kneading dough, and whipping cream. The kid in you will appreciate how quick and easy it is to mix up a batch of cookie dough. This model comes with three attachments: a flat beater for making batter, meat loaf, and all textures in-between; a wire whip for egg whites, mayonnaise, and more air-infused creations; and a hook for mixing and kneading yeast doughs. All three are solidly constructed and easily secured to the beater shaft with a simple twist. The bowl itself locks tight to the base. Standing about 15 inches high, jutting out a foot, and weighing more than a grown woman's bowling ball, this stand mixer isn't the sort of appliance you'll wipe down and put away. Better to find a square foot of free counter space for easy access; besides, this machine is as pretty as it is rugged--you'll want to show it off. --Betsy Danheim

Quality wins out August 8, 2008
Several times I nearly bought a cheaper brand, but since I wanted a mixer that could handle dough kneading, I finally realized I needed to stick with Kitchenaid. I purchased a refurbished one after doing a little on- line research, and it has lived up to its reputation so far. It looks brand new, and since Kitchenaid always carefully checks a machine before putting it back on the market, I felt I was not really taking much of a risk. I do recommend this prodict.

Packaged like a new kitchenaid. No scratches on the paint surface, however it is obvious that it was used from the inside of the bowl. i'm not concerned though, since it runs just fine.

I had no problem with the Kitchen Aid Mixer. I found one at a garage sale for $100.00 and that's the only reason for my retune.KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red

I *heart* my mixer June 3, 2008
Since being put on a medical diet that excludes gluten, I've destroyed a few small appliances in the kitchen trying to reproduce something that resembles decent baked goods. My KitchenAid mixer was a God-send.

With a 325 watt motor, it's got plenty of power to work the stiffest of GF doughs and the easiest clean-up of any small appliance I've ever owned. I was worried the pink would be a little clashy, but it looks like it was made for my kitchen.

The referbs are a great deal, too. I had been watching these on eBay used and they aren't any cheaper once you figure in the shipping. I'd far rather have a factory referb than a mixer that came from Joe Blow's kitchen.

Could be better June 3, 2008
I have an "old" unit from the late 80's/early 90's that was made in the USA and still works great. It belonged to my Aunt before she passed away. Comparing it to this made-in-China reconditioned unit I bought from Amazon, the old unit is much quieter. I am guessing the gear train in the motor has been cheapened over time, but it does not appear to affect it's ability to do work. Unless you are using it every day, I don't think the added noise is a big factor. Still, I reach for the old one more often than the newer one.
